Members

When a custom core is first set up, only the owner can add or remove members. Members play a key role in governing the custom core and the associated canisters, with specific abilities depending on the governance type.

Adding or Removing Members

  • Governance Disabled: Only the owner of the custom core can add or remove members.
  • Governance Enabled: Adding or removing members requires a proposal, which must be approved by the appropriate voting threshold.

Management

  • Without Governance: All members have equal rights and can make changes freely, without needing approval from other members. The only exception is adding or removing members, which remains the owner's responsibility.
  • With Governance Enabled: Any member can create a proposal to make changes. Proposals require approval from at least 33% of the members to be executed.

Aliases

Members have the option to create aliases. Adding an alias allows governance participation on behalf of a member, enhancing flexibility. This feature supports binding a DFX principal to a custom core member and is also considered a safety measure when working with domain-coupled principals.
